Little Switzerland is a small resort community founded in 1910 by a state supreme court justice who thought the mountains here looked like the Swiss Alps — Swiss chalet architecture and all. Little Switzerland sits at roughly 3,400 to 3,500 feet elevation, among the higher spots in our whole service area, with views out to Mount Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain, and the Black Mountains on a clear day. That elevation means real weather — more wind exposure, more snow, and freeze-thaw cycles that hit harder than they do lower in the valley. Roofing, siding, and foundation work all need to account for that from the start. We build and remodel with the altitude actually factored into the plan, not treated as an afterthought once something's already failing.
